Hi girls! We're going to use some of the previous crafts to be part of the Craft of the Month thing, because we only have 2 crafts posted in August!!! I'm excited for this, it will be our 1st Craft of the Month!!!!!

TELL US TUESDAY! Doll Craft #17: How To Make A Doll Apple Braid!

Hey everyone! Today is Tell Us Tuesday, and there's still time to send us a craft you made up! *Please read the 'Contact Us' page for the full details*

Azure, from Pretty Little Dollies Collab Blog sent us an awesome craft to start off Tell Us Tuesday.

Here it is!

Doll Apple Braid

Last night I took the pictures....so I decided to post it today after I was busy....now I'm quite bored.
Please don't use the pictures without my permission, and be sure to give me full credit for them...if I see them anywhere else I will be forced to watermark.

What you need:
Gold Clay
Green Clay
Doll Knife
Doll Rolling Pin
(I used Play*Dough, and I used the wrong colors because I didn't have the right ones. :P)

I put this cutting plastic on the desk to protect from Play*Dough.

How to make it:
1. Roll the green ''clay'' into balls. Set aside.

2. Roll out the gold ''clay'' with the rolling pin into a rectangle.

(I used a marker because I couldn't find my rolling pin for 'dolls'.)

3. Cut the dough with the knife (I used a paper cutter, again I couldn't find what I needed!!), about 1/3" thick through 1/3 of the dough. 

4. Follow step 3 with the other side.

5. Place some green clay balls on the center 1/3 of the gold dough....ech hem clay. The leftover balls put back into the container.

6. Fold one over, then fold one of the other side over, and so on.

I suppose if you use clay you could bake it, but I am using Play*Dough so I wouldn't know. :P

Here is the finished product.

Doll Craft #16: How To Make Your Doll's Hair Soft Again!

Howdy! It's Ari here. Today I'm going to give you a step by step tutorial on how to- well, the post title says it all!

......and after! 

Well, I brought Kanani to a sleepover, and it wasn't a very good idea. The girl who was throwing the sleepover started to brush Kanani's hair, and it kept getting messier and messier. Then she put her hair up in a bun. When she was trying to take it down, the hairtie got stuck in her hair! She asked if I would mind if she cut the hairtie out. I thought she was going to cut the hairtie, but she actually cut her HAIR out of the hairtie! So Kanani's hair was tangled, messy, and trimmed, and I didn't know what to do! Then I decided to save up money to send her to the AG Doll Hospital, but I really didn't want to spend $50 or so to get her head replaced. That's when I decided to do something about it. 

Ok, ok. I think I need to stop talking and write the rest of this post XD 

First off, start with some conditioner. I used SanoBella from a company called doTerra because it's very natural and I thought it would be ok to use in her hair. 

Next, fill a sink with lukewarm water. Once the sink is filled, put a dime sized amount of conditioner in the water and mix it in with your hand. *There might be little clumps of conditioner, but this is normal*

Then, take off all clothing your doll is wearing. After she is 'naked', slip her inside some plastic bags (so you don't get her body wet, I put her inside 2 for extra protection) and tie the handles around her neck.

After she is inside the bags, swish her hair around in the water. *Be careful, DO NOT get her eyes wet.*

If you are tired of holding her up, you can prop her up on a step stool. Her hair will need to soak 5-10 minutes, depending on how bad it is.

'Oh, when will I be done?' Kanani thought wistfully.

Looks like her time is up! Drain the water, grab a washcloth, and squeeze the excess water out of her hair. (Remember, DON'T use a hairdryer. The heat will damage her hair and make it frizzy.)

When you brush her hair out, you'll need to sit her on a towel, because her hair is still very wet. If you have a salon chair for dolls, use that! That will make your job easier. Another tip: Use a wire bristled brush. DO NOT use a plastic bristled brush. It will make the wig frizzy! 

*If you're using 2 plastic bags, you might want to take her out of one while brushing. It will be easier for her to sit.*

Start with a small section of hair. Brush at the bottom first, working out all the tangles and making your way to the top.

My first curl is almost done!

Whenever I brush Kanani's hair, I twirl the curl around my finger after it is brushed out to keep the curls bouncy.

DONE WITH THE FIRST CURL!

Keep brushing and curling her hair. If your doll has straight hair, brush from the bottom and work your way up, but there's no need to curl. Kanani's instructions will work for dolls with wavy hair too. For super curly hair, well, I don't hair a doll like that, so you might want to follow the finger curling instructions on the American Girl site.

Halfway done. 

And her hair is soft again! I put Kanani's hair up in her favorite style, a low ponytail.

A great deal of hair was pulled out while brushing....lol
